Modified Poisson Regression Analysis of Grouped and Right-Censored Counts

چکیده
Abstract Grouped and right-censored (GRC) counts are widely used in criminology, demography, epidemiology, marketing, sociology, psychology other related disciplines to study behavioural event frequencies, especially when sensitive research topics or individuals with possibly lower cognitive capacities at stake. Yet, the co-existence of grouping right-censoring poses major difficulties regression analysis. To implement generalised linear GRC counts, we derive modified Poisson estimators their asymptotic properties, develop a hybrid line search algorithm for parameter inference, demonstrate finite-sample performance these via simulation, evaluate its empirical applicability based on survey data drug use America. This method has clear methodological advantage over ordered logistic model analysing counts.

Censored generalized Poisson regression model
This paper develops a censored generalized Poisson regression model that can be used to predict a response variable that is a2ected by one or more explanatory variables. The censored generalized Poisson regression model is suitable for modeling count data that exhibit either overor under-dispersion. The regression parameters are estimated by the method of maximum likelihood and approximate test...
متن کاملCensored Variables and Censored Regression
A censored variable has a large fraction of observations at the minimum or maximum. Because the censored variable is not observed over its entire range ordinary estimates of the mean and variance of a censored variable will be biased. Ordinary least squares (OLS) estimates of its regression on a set of explanatory variables will also be biased. These estimates are not consistent, i.e., the bias...
متن کاملModified Maximum Likelihood Estimation in Poisson Regression
In Generalized Linear Models, likelihood equations are intractable and do not have explicit solutions; thus, they must be solved by using Newton-type algorithms. Solving these equations by iterations, however, can be problematic: the iterations might converge to wrong values or the iterations might not converge at all. In this study, we derive the modified maximum likelihood estimators for Pois...

متن کاملLinear regression analysis of censored medical costs.
This paper deals with the problem of linear regression for medical cost data when some study subjects are not followed for the full duration of interest so that their total costs are unknown. Standard survival analysis techniques are ill-suited to this type of censoring. The familiar normal equations for the least-squares estimation are modified in several ways to properly account for the incom...
